SoundCraft 6000

The SoundCraft 6000, designed in particular by Douglas Self*, is a model of efficiency, performance, and musicality. Some, like Jim Williams Audio Upgrades, consider it the best mixing console they've ever encountered.

We strongly agree. Rather than using numerous transistors, the 6000's preamps use only two in a mirrored configuration, allowing the input stage to achieve 70 dB of gain with a single potentiometer! And without a resistor attenuator, unlike an SSL console... (which introduces Johnson noise).

The design of the inductor preamp, as well as the electronic panpot, is patented by SOUNDCRAFT and has never been copied or adapted by other brands.

At ZenViewStudios, where electronics is part of my expertise, we choose not based on "reputation," but primarily by listening, analyzing the technology and schematics, and conducting our own advanced noise and distortion measurements. In other words, we go far beyond simple brochures and the prevailing "opinions": SSL, NEVE, API—no criticism of any of them, all have their own characteristics, but not necessarily the most elegant or interesting technology.

The equalizers on each channel, contrary to what some believe, are precisely its strength:
that is to say, having something akin to the bandaxal mastering equalizers found in "Dangerous Music" on each channel!

Our 6000 features 32 channels, 16 groups, 6 aux sends, and 8 monitor outputs. All 48 channels are digitally recordable (32 inputs) and the 16 groups can be recorded to the Antelope and Apollo 8 Quad Core via the MOTU 112D.

Douglas Self*, a leading audio specialist, author of the seminal book "Small Signal Audio Design," and a true guru of noise reduction, has demonstrated this expertise. Similarly, the +17/-17 volts of the rails are more than sufficient to deliver professional audio output levels without distortion, while maintaining a significantly lower overall power consumption compared to higher or even very high voltage designs.
